Construction boom at ABB in Ludvika

A new HVDC factory is being built at ABB-Ludvika for roughly SEK 300 million. In the next few days, the extension of the breaker workshop will come under way at a cost of SEK 45 million. Another test hall is being finished at a cost of SEK 25 million. A warehouse and workshop are being built for capacitors. In addition to this will be the repairs of the test hall that exploded and burned last week.

"In total, the building contractors have a bit more than 100 men from Dalarna and the rest of Sweden working on site" says Tommy Johanson, ABB Fastigheter.

Tommy Johansson describes the construction boom now under way at ABB-Ludvika by noting that there has not been so much construction under way at the same time since the end of World War II between 1946 and 1950.

ByggPartner received the SEK 45 million order to expand ABB's breaker workshop, down to the STRI test station. At the end of the year, personnel and the manufacturing of switch chambers are being moved from Grängesberg into new premises.

In April, a new test hall, which is being built to support the large Uhven test hall, will be completely finished.
