New venture for more tourism in the north
The tourist agency is called Visit Idre, but newly
recruited Carina Lind will market the Municipality of Älvdalen as a
whole and is looking forward to being able to create a unified and
diverse tourist destination. She will try to increase collaboration
between destinations, support tourism industry businesses and work
on the marketing of the entire area. Of course, the objective is to
get more people to travel to Älvdalen, Särna, Idre and
Grövelsjön.
In recent years, the tourist agencies in the
Municipality of Älvdalen were operated on contract, but they have
been run by the Northern Dalarna Tourism Council since November 1.
The council is receiving SEK 2.2 million from the municipality and
revenue from its 75-80 members.
However, Carina Lind, the future Business Manager of
the council's company Visit Idre, will work throughout the
municipality. "After all, I'm from here and know how many great
destinations there are. The challenge is to get the information
about this out to the tourists. I will serve as a sounding board
for the tourism industry and help out with pricing, packaging and
reaching out with the products," she says.
It is hoped that the new City Break booking system
will facilitate matters. Bookings can be made in the system for
accommodations and activities in the whole area. Fredrik Nilsson
will also keep in close touch with Carina Lind and the recently
employed and multilingual Tatjana Summermatter, who will man the
tourist agency in Älvdalen.
